Welcome Samurai Apprentice Welcome to world of Samurai Siege. Upon launching the game, you will first encounter a few storyline cutscenes, followed by an immediate immersion into the basics of gameplay led by your leader, Sensei. Follow Sensei’s instructions to complete the tutorial. The tutorial has arrow and hand indicators to highlight the appropriate action to perform which makes it easy to breeze through. Be sure to read through each tutorial page as they explain the basics of the various resources, buildings and troops. You may also refer to the wiki and FAQ section for more detailed information. Finish the tutorial and let’s get down to business. Let’s Begin Starting off in the game, an automatic 3-day shield is already up. Be patient and don’t break that shield by battling in multiplayer – the worst thing you can do in the game is break a shield too early. I’ll get into more in depth shield strategies later, but trust me – patience and shielding is the key to gaining on the leaderboards. Carpenters: Building Your Way to Success After creating your in-game name, the game takes you through a few more tutorials before handing it off to you completely. You start the game with two carpenters which are needed to build and upgrade buildings. The game gives you an initial 1,365 Diamonds, which are premium currency that can be used to speed up upgrades or refill Jade and Essence Storages. Diamonds are scarce and take a while to obtain so save and only use them to gain additional carpenters. This is important – Carpenters are an investment that will help you snowball into the intermediate and advanced ranks. Don’t use those Diamonds on other upgrades, even if some of them may look flashy or cool. Stick to the basics and go with the Carpenters only. In fact, the very first thing you should do is upgrade your Carpenter building to Level 3, which costs 900 diamonds. This will allow you to build or upgrade 3 buildings simultaneously right from the start. Important Note: The carpenter building can only be upgraded with diamonds so it is CRUCIAL that you only use diamonds for this purpose, nothing else. Many players get impatient and start using gems to speed building production times and end up regretting it when they’re left with only 2 carpenters and not enough diamonds left to obtain a third. Again, this will have huge impact on your success in the game. Once you have your 3rd carpenter, build an additional Market and Essence Well. Both have 1 minute build times so it’s most efficient to have those completed first. Do not focus on building walls or an additional Dojo yet as they won’t be needed until later on. Your base is shielded from outside attackers at this point so there’s no need to defend your base yet. Focus on upgrading your Essence Storage, Coin Vault, Markets and Essence Wells to their maximum available levels. While you’re waiting for upgrades and buildings to finish, train some Samurai through the Dojo building. By performing all these actions simultaneously, you increase your efficiency and will progress through the beginning stages of gameplay much quicker. Markets and Essence Wells In the beginning stages, Markets and Essence Wells can be an easy way to stock-up on precious resources but don’t upgrade them too far. Upgrade times and costs increase with each level. By using resources and Carpenters on your Markets and Essence Wells, you sacrifice on your base’s defenses and end up losing all those resources anyways when you get raided – this is a huge mistake that I see a lot of players making. Make sure you don’t do the same! You will have plenty of time to upgrade your Markets and Essence Wells later on, so always upgrade your critical buildings first, such as storages and defenses. What about Jade vs. Essence? Jade is far more important in the early levels because 90% of the buildings use Jade and not Essence, so focus on getting Jade over Essence. Buildings and Troops Unlocking new buildings and troops is much different in Samurai Siege than in other games you may have played in similar genres. Buildings and troops are unlocked through missions in single player campaign but don’t think you can just breeze through them and unlock everything in one straight shot. You must also have the appropriate Castle level and in some cases, a minimum honor requirement to be able to build or upgrade unlocked items. Be mindful of this relationship so you don’t end up wasting time and resources trying to unlock an item that has multiple prerequisites. Once your Practice Yard is full with Samurai, complete the Focus, Focus, Focus! mission in single player to unlock your first defensive building, Archer Tower. Now you can start fortifying your base and designing a proper layout. Build two Archer Towers, a second Dojo and the maximum wall segments available (Please refer to the wiki for a breakdown of maximum allowable units per Castle level). Upgrade both archer towers and as many wall segments as possible. Now you are ready to build your first defense layout. For tips on constructing a great base, please see Building an Effective Defense Important Note: You will be continuously upgrading wall segments with any spare Jade you have available, however, in though the build time is instantaneous, wall segments are treated like buildings so you must have an available carpenter to upgrade them. |
