This is a strategy that a lot of farmers use actually, and one that I particularly like over some of the other ones out there. You need a combination of Samurai, Rams, Ninjas, Commanders, Archers and Oni Trolls (optional based on whether you’ve unlocked them yet). Don’t worry – we will cover Healers, Essence Masters and Dragons in the next chapter of this guide. To be honest, most Intermediate and Advanced players seldom use Essence Masters and Dragons but they can be fun to try out and based on your attack style, can be useful in an effective arsenal. Using the Right Amount of Troops Let me just pause here and point out that your army size should again depend on your cardinal rule – build an army that is just large enough to raid enemy bases at your level without going overboard. The size of the army can vary, but the important part is the ratios of the different units. Build your army like I’ve described above and if you need to change up the size of your army camp depending on your available resources, make sure you adjust your army in a way that keeps the ratios of the various unit types. So How Do You Attack? When you attack, use the Samurai or Oni Trolls (for more later stages of farming) as punching bags to soak up as much damage as possible from the enemy defenses. Don’t worry if they die – they’re just there as a distraction. When you’re doing this, you’ll also want to launch your Archers to start picking off buildings from a distance, followed by releasing your Ninjas to quickly sneak in and steal the loot! While your troops are in the middle of it all and getting hit, launch your Rams 2 or 3 (depending on the level of enemy walls) at a time to start destroying the enemy walls. Make sure you don’t launch all of them at once so a Freeze or Bomb Trap destroys them, along with Cannon, Freeze and Lightning Towers don’t take out all of your Rams in one sweep. If this happens, it will be very difficult for your Ninjas to penetrate into the inner part of the enemy base where typically most resources are stored. After your Rams have taken down the first layer of walls, launch the rest of your Archers and all of your Ninjas. Space out your Ninja launch similar to how you launched the Rams so enemy traps and splash damage towers don’t take out your whole army with one volley. Biggest Keys The biggest keys to attacking at these levels are to make the right decision on whether or not to attack and choosing the right entry point when you do. The first point goes back to the cardinal rule again – always evaluate and quickly make a rough calculation for your resource break even point. Take the total cost of training your units and weigh that against the potential resources you think you can take from a given base to determine whether or not it is worth raiding. Don’t be afraid to skip bases if you do not think you can turn a profit! It’s Okay to Skip Battles! The second point I want to emphasize is that if you can’t find an easy entry point to a base that you want to raid, it’s perfectly ok to skip the battle. Finding that entry point where you can get to the enemy base resources is important – meaning if the enemy base is set up in a grid with resource collectors in separate areas, it might not be worth it to initiate a fight… or is it? Sometimes an enemy will purposely keep their storages empty and instead, try to trick attackers by never harvesting resources from their collectors. Test out enemy collectors first by launching one Archer, Ninja or Samurai and see how many resources you gain per hit. Another indication of whether storages are empty or full is using visual cues such as essence pools and jade coin storages appearing very low. Most often, farmers will lose many battles but end up taking a ton of resources which to a farmer, is still a win because their whole goal is to loot resources, not gain honor. Many high honor players will purposely drop honor so they can save up on resources at a lower honor level since they know their bases are too difficult to attack. This allows them ample time to amass resources and continue their base upgrades. |
